History buff?

Loch Lomond was the stomping ground of many a famous historical clan battle, however no individual is more famous and romanticised than outlaw Rob Roy. Amongst other historical sights in Loch Lomond, a ‘must see’ is a visit to his hideout cave on one of Loch Lomond’s many scenic and well sign posted walks – ‘CAVE’ is emblazoned in big white letters outside its entrance. Not so handy for his ‘hideout’ purposes though!

Wildlife in Loch Lomond is as diverse as anywhere in Scotland. Take to the hills (or pick up the binoculars from your terrace!) for a chance to behold golden eagles, peregrine falcons and red deer stags in their native Highland habitats, or explore nearby forest, woodland and coastal trails for a chance encounter with anything from lizards and otters, to fallow deer and wildcats!

Water baby?

The Loch itself is the base for a wide range of water-sports and activities. Take it easy with a relaxing sail, swim or indeed sea plane to take in the spectacular scenery – or live for the thrill – Duck Bay is one of Loch Lomond’s (and indeed Scotland’s) best spots for windsurfing and other wind-based water-sports.

Golf enthusiast?

A literal stones throw next door into the grounds of Cameron House, Duck Bay’s guests can play at the Carrick Golf Course. Featuring elevated holes to present the most spectacular views of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond, every inch of the landscape is used to its full advantage to offer 5 teeing options for every level of golfer. More experienced golfers covet a famously challenging round at the home of the Scottish Open – the exclusive Loch Lomond Golf Club. A favourite of golf stalwarts such as Colin Montgomery, this impeccably manicured inland course sandwiched between the mountains and Loch Lomond is strictly Members’ guests only. Might be worth making your stay at Duck Bay Hotel long enough to allow time to buddy up with the locals!

Cyclist, Hiker or Mountaineer?

Family-friendly cycle or walk through forest, woodland and lochside paths, or adrenaline-fuelled hike, climb or mountain bike summit through challenging highland terrain, Loch Lomond has walking and cycle trails to suit every style, ability and party. Shopaholic?

Loch Lomond Shores is a shop, food and drink lovers paradise! Experience Scotland’s most famous department store, Jenners or take home some local produce from the regular farmer’s markets held on the first and third Sunday of every month.

Alcoholic? (or rather, whisky lover!)

Whether you like a tipple, or you have an enthusiast back home, look out for produce from our local Loch Lomond whiskies distillery – or better yet book a visit to Glengoyne Distillery (said by many to be Scotland’s most beautiful distillery), it’s only 20minutes away by car.

HOW TO GET Here

Plane, train, car or bus  – be transported to another world with minimal fuss. We’re under 30 minutes away from Glasgow Airport!

Glasgow and Prestwick Airports are within a one hour drive of the area.

From Glasgow take the M8 then M898 to the Erskine Bridge, on crossing the bridge join the A82 west signposted for Crianlarich. Duck Bay Hotel and Marina is situated one mile after the roundabout for Balloch and A811 to Stirling.

Larger coach operators offer frequent connections from most parts of the UK.
